Research & Writing
My research and writing build on an established foundation in the health sciences while extending into philosophical and interdisciplinary inquiry. Across these areas, I am interested in how knowledge is developed, how evidence is interpreted, and how careful analysis can clarify complex questions.
Health Sciences and Bioethics
My established research interests span public health, epidemiology, oral pathology, oral medicine, and bioethics. They include the distribution and determinants of disease, access to healthcare, health equity, and the evaluation of health services and programs.
My continuing work includes critical reviews and evidence synthesis, with attention to research methods, the interpretation of findings, and their implications for practice and policy.
Mind and Consciousness
A developing area of my scholarship concerns the relationship between brain processes and subjective experience. I am interested in how neuroscience informs philosophical debates about consciousness and which questions remain unresolved by current scientific explanations.
Hindu and Indian Philosophical Traditions
I explore Hindu and Indian philosophical traditions with attention to their historical settings, concepts, and approaches to knowledge and experience. My interests include their contributions to discussions of consciousness, selfhood, and reality, and the possibilities for critical dialogue with contemporary science and philosophy.
Scientific Explanation and Fundamental Questions
My broader interests concern the foundations and limits of scientific explanation, metaphysics, and philosophical questions about the nature and origin of the universe. This inquiry considers how empirical evidence and philosophical reasoning contribute to understanding, while recognizing their different methods and standards.
Scholarly Writing and Dialogue
My current writing includes scientific reviews, theoretical and conceptual papers, and philosophical essays. I welcome dialogue and collaboration with researchers and readers who share these interests. Selected published contributions are presented on the Publications page; enquiries about collaboration can be made through the Contact page.
